In 1983, French scientist- Henri Moissan discovered a new mineral in a meteorite crater in Canyon Diablo,Arizona. Initially mistaking it for a diamond, he later discovered it was a new mineral composed of silicon carbide, and named it "Moissanite" after him. Due to its similar brilliance and hardness to diamonds, this mineral became a popular diamond substitute till to now.
About Moissanite:
* Appearance: Extremely similar to diamonds, it's difficult to distinguish moissanite from diamonds with the naked eye (the GIA, the highest-level international diamond grading organization, even classifies moissanite as the closest imitation to a diamond).
* Brilliance: With a refractive index as high as 2.64 to 2.69, higher than diamond's from 2.417 to 2.419, it surpasses all other solid stones and is the most brilliant gemstone in the world.
* Splendor: Extremely high dispersion grade, possessing more captivating fire than diamonds and other gemstones.
* Clarity: Usually a VV1-2 grade with very few inclusions, appearing flawless.
* Hardness: Harder than ruby, very durable and resistant to wear and scratches, suitable for daily wear.
* Attractive Price: In terms of price and market positioning, natural diamonds are typically the most expensive due to their rarity and cultural value. Lab-grown diamonds, priced at about one-third to one-half the cost of natural diamonds, are a more affordable option for many consumers. Moissanite, being a non-natural gemstone and due to its different material composition, is the cheapest and best suited for consumers seeking high value for money.
* Sustainability: Natural moissanite exists only in a very small number of meteorites, and its small size prevents it from being used in practical applications like beads. Therefore, almost all moissanite on the market is lab-grown, a process far more environmentally friendly than large-scale mining of natural diamonds.
In Hastella, We believe that every love story deserves a gemstone as enduring and radiant as the bond it represents.
